2 Tips On Women's Bodybuilding

2 Tips On Women's Bodybuilding

When you think of Gold's Gym in Venice Beach or any other bodybuilding gym, who do you imagine working out there? Many of you imagine Arnold Schwarzenegger pumping iron in the movie that brought bodybuilding to life, Pumping Iron (1977). I bet you did not consider that women's bodybuilding is a big part of bodybuilding today. So, here are some female bodybuilding tips for women of all ages.
The first thing that scares the majority of women away from bodybuilding is the fear that they will get too muscular and look unattractive, which can happen. If you have a top quality weight lifting program though you can actually help yourself create an amazingly sculpted body.
If you look at a timeline you should see that the Pumping Iron movie staring Arnold Schwarzenegger that launched bodybuilding into the public eye and the women's liberation movement were at roughly the same time. Due to this coincidence in timing, the bodybuilding movement increasing in the publics attention and the women's liberation movement strengthening, women's bodybuilding began to grow too.
Female bodybuilding is increasing dramatically in popularity because it is a great way for woman to lose weight, get fit, and look great. Just like with men bodybuilders, women need to know the right tips to help them, so here they are:
The first thing you need to know is that bodybuilding women fall into two classes. The classes are: 1) Doing it for health, and 2) Doing it to perform in competitions.
The second thing you need to know, for women who are scared of getting to muscular looking, is that most women do not naturally produce the testosterone that is required to get the huge muscle look that men get. So, by being a bodybuilder it is not necessarily guaranteed that you will get huge looking.
If you are looking to just sculpt and tone your muscles bodybuilding is for you. Natural women's bodybuilding focuses on sculpting and toning the bodies muscles and getting them stronger. If you avoid using all artificial means to build muscle, such as steroids, you will have no problem with getting to big.
If you still do not think you should join the female bodybuilding world here are some of the advantages to doing it:
-Increased self-esteem

-Increased self-confidence

-Higher self-worth
After reading all of those female bodybuilding tips I hope I have convinced you into wanting to join the women's bodybuilding world.

Tips for the Bodybuilder Woman

Becoming a bodybuilder woman is a great way for a woman to lose weight, look great and get extremely fit. However, it is important to follow a women’s exercises program that works for you.

Women’s exercises for women are more of a focus of muscle sculpting and toning the body and getting stronger. Natural body building will sculpt the body rather than make it look too female muscular. Women who use artificial means to build muscle are the ones who take on a bulkier appearance.

If you are thinking of stepping up to the plate as a bodybuilder woman in the bodybuilding arena, you’ll need to get a few things just right.

- Nutrition is a vital component of any bodybuilding womens routine, this is particularly important, both because of the varying hormone levels you experience each month and that bodybuilding is quite demanding.

- Exercise is, of course, a part of female fitness and bodybuilding – remember, reps work better than maxing out on weights alone, true for any bodybuilding activity, female or otherwise.

If you decide to take up female fitness and bodybuilding in a big way, there is now, literally, nothing to stop you.

A DEDICATED bodybuilder who teaches PE at the new Bulwell Academy has been crowned a British champion.
Caroline Oliver – who is also known as Cee – won the Natural Physique Association's (NPA) Trained Figure title for 2009.

The triumph means she has gone one better than last year, when she finished runner-up, and is the result of 12 months of hard training and dieting by the 34-year-old from Arnold.

Caroline, who has also qualified for the British Natural Bodybuilding Federation's Miss Figure final, now hopes to be selected to represent Britain in the NPA world finals in New York.

After beating 13 other finalists to take the title, she said: "I was in total shock when I heard I had won. I am ecstatic!

"It was a fight to the end with some outstanding routines and all the glitz and glamour of bling bikinis and flawless tans.

"I've trained as hard as ever this year and looked over my fellow competitors with a fine toothcomb.

"To be crowned champion is amazing. My next step is to become a world-class athlete."

Caroline trains three or four times a week and sticks to a strict diet to keep her body in top shape.

She does not allow herself dairy products or bread, and has only small amounts of carbohydrates. She eats lots of protein but only a minimal amount of fat.

Caroline's typical diet consists of porridge oats, egg whites, chicken, jacket potatoes, fish and rice, lots of vegetables, nuts and seeds, two litres of water per day and minimal amounts of tea and coffee.

How To Start Body Building:Women Body Builder

After you have researched bodybuilding and fully understand the unique needs for fitness over 40, you should study the success stories of other men and women body builder your age. Find several people whose fitness goals and body styles are similar to yours. Use them as role models to develop your own training schedule and program. Pay special attention to how gradually they began training, including reps, weights, rest, and cycles.

When you first begin  women's exercises over 40 it would be best to choose a longer cycle that gives you plenty of rest. Your body will need more time for renewal and repair because it is not used to or primed for this activity. Ideally you would work out one or two muscle groups on day 1. On days 2 and 3 you would rest. On day 4 you will train another muscle group and then rest for two days. On day 7 you would work out the remaining muscle groups and then rest for two days before beginning again. As you become more advanced, you can decrease your rest periods and shorten your cycles if you prefer.

Never begin with too much weight. It is common for younger people to mistakenly begin too high. This is not because they can start with more weight than you, it is because their bodies can endure and repair damage they cause much faster. Begin at a very low weight, the amount may vary per person. Start low enough so that you can maintain control while you perform proper movements and techniques.

A good warm up is also critical if you want to prevent injury and get the most benefit from your training. After stretching, many experts recommend a light 5 to 10 minute cardio workout. Afterwards, you should warm up the muscle group you are targeting that day by lifting half the weight for about 10 reps. For example, if your goal is to lift 200 pounds in that training session, you should start by lifting 100 pounds or less.

If you follow these simple recommendations you will be practicing safe body building over 40. If you have more questions or are nervous about injuring yourself, ask a certified trainer to show you the best way to train your body. Using caution and asking for help will get you prepared for a more intense workout later and get you started on the road to fitness success.

In The Arena Of The Women Body Builder

Although it is a fact that bodybuilding has gained a diverse population of aficionados such as women and teenagers as well, it must be noted that four decades or so ago, the hobby or sport was initially dominated by men. Many may have had a good glimpse of bodybuilding in the widely acclaimed movie “Pumping Iron” which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger during the late 1970’s. During this decade, the women’s liberation movement was beginning to assert itself, and coincidentally, the world of women bodybuilders also started to unfold. As bodybuilding went into the public eye owing to the Schwarzenegger movie, women, who were also clamoring for equality, proved that they are capable of doing what men can, and perhaps that may include bodybuilding.

The women body builder was perhaps unthinkable prior to that decade as muscles are generally connoted with men. Brawns and strength go with the notion of masculinity, and somehow, the women body builder as an idea was something novel and could quite have been radical. Such is no longer the case as there is now a vast population of women enjoying bodybuilding as an inclusion to their health regimen or as a competitive sport. Women bodybuilders, to attain an ideally symmetrical and well-sculpted body generally work hard as men do. In fact, women bodybuilders may even adhere to similar bodybuilding routines as women bodybuilders have the same set of muscles which can be developed as men. The only difference between women and men bodybuilders is their hormonal make-up wherein men bodybuilders have an abundance of testosterone which promotes muscle growth and storage whereas women bodybuilders abound with estrogen which plays a vital role in fat storage.

Nevertheless, women bodybuilders, just as men do, initially have to burn fats prior to focusing on a workout regimen which aims to develop muscle mass. Women bodybuilders engage in bodybuilding programs specifically designed for their desires and goal. For women bodybuilders who pump iron for health benefits, they are sure to gain the rewards of endurance, a boosted bodily defenses and better body organ functioning. Other than that, the woman body builder also relish in an enhanced physical appearance with well-toned and lean bodies. Personality-wise, women as bodybuilders also develop better self-esteem and confidence due to the buoyant sensation that regular exercise brings as well as their aesthetically appealing physique. For those who wish to join the world of women bodybuilders, there may be hesitation due to the fear that they might get bulky and massive with too much muscles. Such an irregularity can actually happen if a woman is not careful with the bodybuilding program to adhere to. The women body builder must crucially take into consideration the workout program that they should keep to if they want to achieve their desired results. Besides, there is a lesser likelihood for women bodybuilders to become extremely muscled like men as men tend to be so massively muscled due to the male hormone testosterone. If a woman engages in bodybuilding without the use of steroids as well, then there may be no need for concern about getting huge. With the proper bodybuilding program, nutrition, focus and commitment, women can succeed in bodybuilding just as men can.

Why the Bodybuilding Womens Arena is Becoming So Popular

Have you ever watched a bodybuilding womens competition. If you have the first thing that might come to mind is the incredible bodies these women have. These women are developing their bodies into unbelievable sculptures to be envied every bit as much as their male counterparts.

The modern era of female bodybuilding began in 1977. There were a number of contests for women during the next couple of years, including "Best In The World" promoted by Galaxy founder George Snyder. In 1980, the IFBB sanctioned the first Ms. Olympia, which was staged in Philadelphia by Synder. The success of this competition was a watershed event in the history of bodybuilding for women.

Today the sport of bodybuilding is attracting women in record numbers. This is because women can now compete on the same level as men with titles on the line.

To get ready for a bodybuilding womens competition they have to follow a strict exercise plan and diet as well. When on a regular exercise and diet program a woman can reduce her body fat a lot.

Woman are different than men in that they need body fat. When a woman does not have body fat she can lose her menstrual cycle and a number of other physical problems can surface. That is not all.

Bodybuilding is easier for men than women for several reasons. The hormone testosterone plays a large role in building muscle. Men have more testosterone than women. Women have more estrogen. This lack of testosterone makes it harder for women to build muscles like a man has.

Unfortunately with woman's testosterone levels so low some woman will turn to anabolic steroids to build up muscles. This can cause all sorts of health problems for them in the long run.

While steroids can build muscle mass on woman it is illegal and it causes many health problems. These include:
muscle weakness, high blood pressure, hair growth, hair loss, and acne.

Anabolic steroids have become the dark side of several sports and some women have turned to them to win and be more competitive in women's bodybuilding.

Popular Myths Unveiled For Woman Body Builders

If it wasn't enough that the tyro woman body builders has to contend with an industry that often sees woman athletes as inferior, there are also a large number of locker room fairytales that circulate to further discourage and confound the issue. The simple truth is women athletes are every bit as good as their male counterparts, done and dusted. What of the popular myths though, those discouraging stories that probably put many women off bodybuilding before they have the chance to disprove them firsthand. Let's take a quick look at some popular gym lore.

Bodybuilding will turn you into the She Hulk:

Entirely up to the individual. Women do not naturally produce as much testosterone as their male peers and cannot, therefore, gain as much muscle. And even if women could, you get to decide where to stop building and maintain, whether you are male or female. So if you want outhouse proportions then anabolic steroids are your only choice as a woman body builders. The key word though, is choice.

Bodybuilding transforms fat into muscle:

Just not true. Muscle is built by a process of intentional overexertion which leads to a compensation reaction causing the muscle fibres to increase in number to deal with the additional demand. Fat can only be metabolised or burnt off, and this is only really possible with cardio or aerobic exercise, not weight training.

Bodybuilding allows you to eat as much as you like:

Another piece of Class A nonsense. Simple fact - you eat more than you burn you get fat. If you do not balance your calorie intake to only slightly exceed your energy expenditure the excess will pack on in the form of fat.

Woman body builders
only needs cardio and light weight training:

Cardio you do need. This is the exercise regimen that burns fat. Weights or any resistance training work in a very simple way. The heavier you go, the more you extend your muscles work range beyond their tolerance envelope and the more they grow. When they have grown, you go heavier again, and so on. If you do a lot of cardio and very light weights you'll need a hand hold in the showers to stop yourself going down with the suds. Your body will consume the fat then turn in on the muscles next and you'll eventually end up not even casting a shadow.

Weight training increases your chest size:

If this were true most female pros would be 44 DD's. Breasts are largely made up of fatty tissue and if your body fat drops below approximately 12 % your breasts will probably get smaller not the other way around. As a woman bodybuilder this is a reality that has to be kept in mind when setting long term goals.

Bodybuilding will make you muscle-bound and loose mobility:

Weight training executed with correct form will increase you stretching abilities not vice versa.

Hopefully this short insight will help dispel some of the misgivings you may have had about becoming a woman bodybuilder. Now, about those MCP's!

The Ultimate Women’s Exercises

To have those toned and sculpted muscles we need to work at them. The challenge lies in knowing which women’s exercises are going to give you that ripped look with the most calorie burning power.

Here is where you get to create the female muscular workout! You could easily pick up your hand weights and start doing arm curls or triceps extensions but that is only going to give you mediocre results. If you want superior results in a shorter amount of time you need to try whole body exercises or high intensity interval training. Both of these workouts encourage your muscles to burn more calories throughout the day than traditional exercises.

Body building women's exercises work the major muscle groups of the body at the same time. For example, if you were to do a push up you would be working the upper body muscle groups of chest and arms, your core muscle group of abdominals, and your lower body muscle group of lower legs and feet. You would be using your entire body weight as resistance when going up and down in the exercise.

Women of Muscular Substance

WHY do women weight-train to change their bodies from their traditional shape to a more women muscular form? And how are muscles feminised and eroticised? Shirley Tate, senior lecturer in sociology at Leeds Metropolitan University, examined these issues in a paper presented at the BSA conference this week.

For her paper, "Making your body your signature: weight-training and transgressive femininities", she interviewed a group of black and white women who chose to be woman body builders at a men's gym - even though there was a separate women's facility in the building.

The activities of the women body builder contrasts with those of other women at the gym, whose aim is to be thin.

"Women who 'wanna-be-waifs' seem to desire to be 'debodied'. Women who 'wanna-be-muscular' desire to be 'bodied'," said Ms Tate.

Women said they trained in order to feel in control - "in control of their bodies, nature, appetites, femininities and lives".

One interviewee used her women's exercises training to decide how she would look for her wedding in September: "I can say exactly how I'm going to look. I can say I want to wear something off the shoulder and deep in the back. So I'll work on my back and shoulders, especially in July so they'll be firm and tight."

The women also described how they enjoyed going through the pain barrier to achieve control. "What's the pain of the burn when you have experienced childbirth?...The pleasure of the burn is being in control of your body and mind and the pleasure you get from looking at the product of the burn, your body," said another of the interviewees.

Women have been weight-training since the beginning of the century, when Kate Sandina, a British woman of "massive proportions", went on stage and demonstrated a variety of feats of strength. These included "a two-handed clean-and-jerk of 250 pounds".

Women have also participated in weight-lifting contests since 1932.

However, the cultural importance of visiting the gym and looking fit, thin and muscled, is increasing, said Ms Tate. It is a culture which is evident across a wide cross-section of women regardless of class, race, sexuality or location.

She argued that weight-training and body building is a means of "empowerment".

She said: "By choosing to have a women muscular body, the women are offering challenges to the gaze of the other." She added: "Inscribing 'the masculine' on a feminine body is about inscribing power and is thereby transgressive, as, in contrast to men, women tend to be restricted from embodying power in their physical selves."

Ms Tate concluded: "As women who are physically strong and muscular - which are the traditional symbols of male power - they have symbolically invested in their bodies. Through these bodily practices women construct themselves as transgressively feminine."

Become a Bodybuilder Women

Many females workout in an attempt to be skinny and thin. But there are some rare females who intentionally want to be muscular and lean. It is these people who will go on to find out that the sport of becoming bodybuilder women is best suited for them.

At first sight, the bodybuilder woman may seem completely different to male bodybuilders. But at the same time, it’s very similar. The truth is that there are some things which should be done differently as a women body builder but the foundations to succeed in the sport remains the same.

Certain factors in muscle growth have to be stricter and be given more attention. Optimal nutrition, sleep and supplementation are vital for bodybuilder women muscle growth.

You should strive to have at least 7 hours of sleep a day and eat cleanly most of the time. Nutrition and supplementation that increases testosterone production will also help tremendously. Diets high in protein and fat will increase testosterone production as well.

Training for a beginner bodybuilder woman should start off with basic compound movements such as the squat, deadlift and bench press for high repetitions to practice your technique. Add in exercises which you think needs extra work and train 3-4 times a week. You can also attempt to search for tried and true women's exercises and give them a shot.

Buff Bodybuilders Women

The ‘skinny fat’ body is definitely out and women now strive for the lean, toned, healthy bodybuilders women type body. Weight-bearing resistance is still the best way to women muscular tone and fat loss. The more lean muscle you have on your body, the more your metabolism rises.

When bodybuilders women add muscles, it results in more of an hourglass figure, more female muscular curves. Your booty and breasts get lifted, when you build your shoulders it makes your waist look smaller, your legs get shapelier when you develop your calves and tone your quads and hamstrings.

Female Muscular

Some women are hesitant when it comes to the female muscular body because they believe bodybuilding makes women muscular like men. Women are unable to develop massive muscles like men when they undertake a bodybuilders women regimen. Men naturally have a larger amount of testosterone in their bodies that women don’t have. That testosterone makes their muscles develop differently. So unless women use testosterone supplements, the female muscular system won’t grow the same way men do.

There are many advantages for bodybuilder women today. Many women want their bodies to look and feel good. Weight training builds muscle, increases muscle temperature and boosts metabolic rate, all of which burns calories and metabolizes fat. The increase in muscle mass is the major reason weight training is recommended for weight loss.

Women can follow the same bodybuilders women guidelines as men when they plan their own training program. You should have a well-balanced plan where you work each muscle group in your body at least one day a week. Focus on straining the muscles so you get maximum results out of the resistance that weights can supply.
